17th BB&T Classic to be Played on December 4 at Verizon Center

WASHINGTON, DC - Tickets for the 17th annual BB&T Classic ,  scheduled for  Sunday, December 4 at Verizon Center at 2:30 p.m., will go on sale in early October.  The popular college basketball showcase features an outstanding doubleheader of college hoops action  including long-time host universities - University of Maryland and George Washington University.  The event benefits the Children’s Charities Foundation (CCF).  

The 2011 lineup of games begins when George Washington University hosts  Final Four participant from last year in Virginia Commonwealth University. The second game matches the University of Maryland with Notre Dame University.  The games are set to begin mid afternoon on Sunday, December 4.

The Classic continues to be the major source of fundraising for The Children’s Charities Foundation (CCF). Founded in 1994 by a group of Washington-area business and professional leaders, the CCF has distributed more than $8 million to charities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including the District of Columbia; Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland; Fairfax and Arlington Counties in Virginia; and the City of Alexandria, Virginia.
